Thoughts on some problems in prospecting of China's strategic mineral resources

The prospecting of strategic mineral resources is a concept proposed in recent years according to the new change in the management system of geology and mineral exploration and development of China and the new requirements of the country for mineral exploration work. This paper preliminarily discusses the basic connotation of strategic mineral resources, nature and tasks of strategic mineral exploration, differences between strategic mineral exploration and conventional mineral exploration and management system and operational mechanism of strategic mineral exploration with the aim of defining its nature and targets and tasks, establishing gradually an effective mechanism of benign interaction and organic integration of strategic mineral exploration funded by the country and follow-up commercial mineral exploration.
