Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical features of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs).Methods A total of 40 cases of GISTs were studied by histological evaluation along with immunohistochemistry analysis,including Dog-1、CD117、CD34、SMA and S-100.Results Patients of GISTs presented with stomach discomfort,and the most common symptoms were abdominal pain and abdominal distention.There were three major morphologic types: spindle cell type(28 cases),epithelioid cell type(8 cases) and mixed cell type(4 cases).Dog-1、CD117 were both positive in 90% of GISTs,and CD34 was positive in 70% of GISTs.SMA and S-100 were partly expressed or usually absent.Conclusion GISTs have varied cell types and different arrangements,and lack of distinctive clinical manifestation;Dog-1、CD117 and CD34 staining can be used in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of GISTs.
