Abstract

Objective To investigate the association between polymorphism of tumor necrosis factor- beta and cerebral infarction(CI).Methods Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymor- phism(PCR-RFLP)and sequence specific primer-PCR(PCR-SSP)were used for the detection of TNF-be- ta genotype in 86 patients with CI and 81 healthy controls. Results The frequencies of CC,CA and AA gen- otypes of C804A in CI group and control were 18.2%and 47.7%,34.1%and 38.3%,42.0%and 19.7%,respectively;there were statistically significant differences in the distributions of the genotypes(P0.05)and the allele frequencies(P0.05)between the two groups;the risk of suffering from CI in those of AA and CA genotypes was 2.101 times that in those of CC genotype(OR=2.011,95%CI:1.048~2.954). There was no significant difference in the distribution of the genotype of G252A between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion The single nueleotide polymorphism at position 804 in the exon 3 of TNF-beta gene is associated with CI and the allele A may be a risk factor for CI.The polymorphism of G252A,nay not play an important role in the pathogenesis of CI.
