Abstract

The decline and extinction of Confucian education is contained in history from Late Qing Dynasty to Fourth Movement.The reforms of education system in Late Qing Dynasty once hoped to reinforce feudal order and Confucianism,but it removed system basis of Confucian education in end.Since then,the reform of education curriculum in early Republic of China(ROC)abolished two curricula named classic reading and moral cultivation,and then curriculum basis of confucian education was destoryed.In the May Fourth Movement,the revolution of education criticized whole confucian values,and it destoryed value basis of Confucian education.We can understand clearly by analysis of changes of education system in these periods,and it can improve our rethinking ability of education reform in modern history.
