Clinical evaluation of magnetic attachment retained over-denture and traditional removable partial denture

Abstract

Objective: Compare the clinical effect of magnetic attachment (MA) retained overdenture and traditional removable partial dentures (RTD). Methods: 25 patients with lower kennedyl dentition defect and few teeth remained was included. Thirteen subjects were treated with MA retained over-dentures, and twelve with traditional RPD. The satisfaction of patients and the periodontal health of abutments were observed after 3 years. Results: The patients’satisfaction and periodontal health of abutments of MA retained over-dentures were better than traditional RTD. Conclusion: MA retained over-dentures were better than RTD for the patients with lower kennedy Ⅰdentition defect.
