Abstract
It is reported that in a chloroacetate buffer of pH 3, a multiligand complex is formed among the components Ti(Ⅳ)、 mannitol, pyrocatechol violet and CTMAB in a mole ratio of Ti(Ⅳ)∶Mannitol∶PV∶ CTMAB =1∶1∶2∶2, in which mannitol acts as the second ligand. The absorption maxima of this complex lies at 730nm with a molar absorptivity of 7.2×10 4L·cm -1 ·mol -1 . Beer′s law holds in the concentration range of 0~20μg of Ti(Ⅳ) in 50ml of solution. By using DTPA Ni as masking agent, the proposed method has been applied to the determination of titanium in chromium nickel steels.
