Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of expression of p53 and p73 proteins in gastric carcinoma. Methods The expression of p53 and p73 proteins were detected by immunohistochemistry in 56 cases of gastric carcinoma and in 40 cases of dysplasia, while other 10 cases of normal gastric mucosa as the control group for researching. Results No positive expression of p53 and p73 proteins were found in normal gastric mucosa. The positive rates of p53 in gastric carcinoma and in dysplasia were 71.4% and 30% respectively, the positive rates of p73 in gastric carcinoma and in dysplasia were 64.3% and 22.5% respectively. The significant differences were obtained statistically between the group of gastric carcinoma and the group of dysplasia. Conclusion p53 and p73 proteins were overexpressed in carcinoma of stomach, their expressions had relevance to the carcinogenesis and the malignant progression of stomach..
