Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of OM supplementation time on the performance and anti-oxidation capability of broilers. Four hundred and fifty day-old broilers were randomly allotted to five treatments. The five treatments were control, and group 2, 3, 4, and 5 (organic Mg diet was fed from 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th week respectively). The results showed that there was a tendency to reduce the MDA content in liver and heart with the supplementation of OM in the last four weeks. Broilers in group 3 had higher TAOC (P0.05). Birds fed OM had higher TAOC of liver, and GSH-Px activity of spleen compared with those of control (P0.05), and showed time-length-dependent character. The activity of CAT in muscle of group 3, 4 and 5 were enhanced significantly (P0.05). The activity of CAT in spleen of group 4 was increased significantly (P0.05). The use of OM enhanced the level of GSH in heart significantly (P0.05).
