Research on rocky desertification of karst area in the southwest of China

The condition of rocky desertification in the karst region of the southwest of China is analysed based on three provinces of Yunnan,Guizhou and Guangxi.The mechanism of rocky desertification in the region is studied.The results show that widely distributing carbonate rock is background of geology that caused rocky desertification;the rugged surface of the earth provide a drive for rocky desertification;the amount of the eroded soil that allowed is small because of the slow formation of soil and thin soil layer;the karst physiognomy affected by the climte is so well developed that soil is easily dropped into the underground;the increasing of population and unreasonable human activities result in vegetation to be destroyed,and it is difficulty to be restored,which cause loss of soil and water.The author put forward a series of measures of governing rocky desertification.
