Abstract
Objective:To compare the therapeutic efficacy and adverse events of aripiprazole and risperidone in the treatment of schizophrenia in female patients.Methods:60 patients that met inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to 2 groups of aripiprazole and risperidone treatment for 8 weeks.Therapeutic efficacy and adverse events were assessed with positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS) and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) 2,4 and 8 weeks after treatment. Results:After 8 weeks of treatment,PANSS scores were significantly decreased(P0.01) .Cure rate and efficiency rate were 46.7% and 90.0% respectively in the aripiprazole group and were 46.7% and 93.3% in the risperidone group, and the difference was not statistically significant(P0.05) .Adverse reactions in the two groups were mainly extrapyramidal(EPS) ,nausea, vomiting, abnormal electrocardiogram, insomnia, weight gain and menstrual disorders, etc.,which aripiprazole induced extrapyramidal reactions, weight gain and menstrual disorders were significantly less than that induced by risperidone(P0.01) .Conclusion:The curative effect of aripiprazole and risperidone were similar in the treatment of female schizophrenia, while EPS,weight gain and menstrual disorders were less in the aripiprazole group than in risperidone group.
