Abstract

Objective To investigate the levels of endogenous thrombopoietin(TPO) and endogenous interlukin-11(IL-11) and the relationships among TPO,IL-11 and peripheral blood platelet counts in patients with aplastic anemia. Methods Levels of endogenous IL-11 and platelet counts were detected in 20 patients with aplastic anemia and 20 healthy volunteers(normal controls) by using a sandwich-ELISA procedure and automatic hemocytoanalyser. Results The endogenous TPO levels in patients with aplastic anemia were significantly higher than those in normal controls(P0.05),but the endogenous IL-11 levels were lower than normal(P0.05).The blood platelet counts in patients with aplastic anemia was negative correlated with TPO level(r =-0.829,P0.05) and there was no correlation between endogenous levels of IL-11 and the blood platelet counts(r = 0.432,P=0.0570.05).Conclusion Serum TPO and serum IL-11 levels measurements have certain diagnostic value in aplastic anemia. The result will provide an important consultation to study the mechanism of regulation of platelet.
