Measurement and Value of Serum Thrombopoietin Levels and Serum Interlukin-11 Levels in Patients with ITP

Objective To investigate levels of endogenous Thrombopoietin(TPO) and endogenous interlukin-11(IL-11) and the relationships among TPO,IL-11 and peripheral blood platelet counts in patients with thrombocytopenia.Methods Levels of endogenous TPO and IL-11,platelet counts and megakaryocyte count were detected in 30 ITP patients and 20 healthy volunteers(normal controls) by using a sandwich-ELISA procedure,automatic hemocytoanalyser and handmade count.Results The endogenous TPO levels in patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) were slightly lower compared to those in normal controls(P0.05),however the endogenous IL-11 levels were significantly increased in these patients(P0.05);There was a inverse correlation between endogenous levels of IL-11 and the blood platelet counts in ITP(r =-0.559,P=0.0010.05).Conclusion Serum TPO and serum IL-11 levels measurements have certain assistantly diagnostic value in ITP;the result will provide an important consultation to study the mechanism of regulation of platlet.
