An Evaluation of the Effect of Health Education on Diabetes in Community

Objective To evaluate the effect of health education about diabetes in community, including the cognition, attitude of diabetes and compliance to the order given by doctors. Methods Questionnaires (multiple choices) for 96 diabetics who had received systemic health education on diabetes were designed and investigated before and after the one and a half year-long education. Record the general data, the times of taking part in education, general knowledge about diabetes, knowledge of sitology, blood sugar, and then compared with the results before / after data. Results Knowledge about diabetes of the patients who had received health education on diabetes had been significantly increased, their blood sugar control efficiency were subjectively related with the times of taking part in education. Conclusion Health education on diabetes to patients suffered from diabetes in way of getting-together was of great social and economic benefit and was worthy of being extended.
