The Study of Expression and Significance MMP-9 in Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Objective To detect the expression MMP-9 in gastric carcinoma and investigate the relationship with the clinicopathologic features and the prognosis of gastric carcinomas.Methods Sixty eight cases of paraffin embedded tissues from gastric carcinoma and 20 cases non-tumor gastric tissue were detected for the expression of MMP-9 by means of immunohistochemical assay.Thirty five cases were followed-up from 14 months to 13 years,in which the prognosis was analyzed.Results Of the 68 cases gastric carcinoma,59(86.76%) were positive for MMP-9.Of the 20 cases non-tumor gastric tissue,4(20.00%) were positive for MMP-9.MMP-9 positivity rate in the cases with lymph node metastasis was higher than that without lymph node metastasis and they were 95.65% and(68.18%),rspectively(P0.05);MMP-9 was expressed in mucosa,muscularis and serosa in 33.33%,(91.30%),92.05%,(P(0.05)).The expression of MMP-9 were not related to age and sex(P(0.05)).The patients with MMP-9 high positivily had low survival(P0.01).Conclusion High expression of MMP-9 promotes tumor metastasis.The expression of MMP-9 is related to invasion and lymph node metastasis of the tumor.and were not related to age and sex.
