Abstract
The East China Sea Bridge is the first bridge having ever been built in China offsea where the construction environment is very harsh. The 70m box girder of the Bridge is 4 m in depth, bridge deck is 15.05 m in width and weight per girder is about 2 000 t, which will be assembled with segmental precast method. To minimize the usage of large lifting equipment in the precasting yard, the box girders will be precast on highlevel precasting bed. In this paper, the design considerations, layout of precasting bed, types of formwork for the box girders, and selection of launching equipment and schemes are described.
