Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of p16 protein in human colorectal carcinoma and its clinical implication.Method:The expression of p16 protein was determined by immunohistochemical method in 30 cases of human colorectal carcinoma, and compared with that in adenoma and normal mucosa. Results:The positive rates of p16 protein expression in the 30 cases were 40.0%.The expression level of p16 in cancerous tissue is lower than that in normal mucosa and adenoma (P0.05).The positive rates of p16 expression in different pathological gradings\,post-operative survival (3 years) and lymph node metastasis showed significant difference(P0.05).Conclutions:The deletion and mution of p16 protein exist in human colorectal carcinoma, and p16 protein plays and important role in proliferation and differentiation of colorectal carcinoma.
