Abstract
ICP-AES analysis was applied to the simultaneous determination of microamounts of six metal elements, i.e. sodium, iron, nickel, chromium, cobalt and manganese, in refined p-phthalic acid. Various influential factors were studied and the working parameters of the instrument were optimized. A comparative study with the AAS method was made and consistent results were obtained. RSD′s (n=5) for determination of the above mentioned elements were found to be in the range from 3%~10%, and recoveries obtained were in the range of 94.0%~104.0%. The results of this work may be taken as reference in the analysis of other chemicals.
