Abstract
With the wide use of the Internet in commerce and research, the Quality of Service(QoS) of IP networks has become more and more important and attracted wide attention. The characteristics of QoS from the IP network providers viewpoint are described in this paper. Two main techniques for QoS, RSVP/ IntServ and DiffServ, are presented and compared in detail. By combining these two techniques, a new architecture is presented to improve the QoS, with the access control accomplished in access domain. The combination of DiffServ with traffic engineering, constraint based routing and MPLS is also proposed. Finally, combined with the quality efficiency product, the influence of the provision of high QoS guarantee and high network utilization and the complexity of realization on network design is discussed.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
