Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of Caspase-6,8 in articular cartilage of osteoarthritis. Methods Immunohistochemistry and TUNEL assay were used to detect the expression of Caspase-6,8 proteins in articular cartilage and the apoptosis of the articular chondrocytes cell in 22 cases. Results The positive expression rat of Caspase-6,8 protein in osteoarthritic chondrocytes were higher than that in normal chondrocytes (P 0.05). There were a positive correlation between degrees of the expression of Caspase-6,8 and chondrocytes apoptosis in osteoarthritic articular cartilage (P 0.05). Conclusion There was a consanguineous correlation between degrees of the expression of Caspase-6,8 and chondrocytes apoptosis in osteoarthritic articular cartilage. It demonstrated that the abnormal expression of Caspase-6,8 closely related to the biological behavior of OA such as occurrence, progress, et al.
