On the Restriction of Rhetorical Effect in English Diction

Abstract

Diction in English is sometimes directly related to the rhetorical effect of the English language.The same idea expressed in different words may result in entirely different rhetorical effects.The rhetorical effect restricts the diction in English.This paper discusses the special rhetorical effects achieved by choosing concrete words,words of connotative meaning,nonce words,and fuzzy words by illustration.
