Abstract

Effect of five seed-soaking reagents(H2O,0.1%SA,0.1% KNO3,0.01%GA,and 0.3%H2O2),five seed-soaking time(0,2,6,12,and 24 h) and five NaCl concentrations(0,20,40,60,and 80 mmol·L-1) on germination rates of Solanum nigrum Linn.seeds were studied by orthogonal experimental design. The results showed that seed-soaking reagent and salt concentration significantly affected germination rate(P0.05),but seed-soaking time had not(P0.05),and the factor that affected germinate rate was in the order of seed-soaking reagent=NaCl concentrationseed-soaking time. The result of single factor experiment(NaCl concentration was 0,20,40,60,80,100,and 120 mmol·L-1,respectively) showed that germination rate decreased as salt concentrations increased.Recovery test showed S.nigrum Linn.seeds could remain viable in NaCl solution, and recovery germination rate increased as NaCl concentraions increased(P0.05),and total germination rate had not signicantly difference among NaCl concentraions(P0.05).The half-lethal salt concentration of S.nigrum Linn.seeds was between 40 and 60 mmol·L-1,and lethal salt conentration was between 60 and 80 mmol·L-1.
