Abstract

As a kind of pragmatic inference,Relevance Theory is based on the Relevance Principle and Optimal Relevance from the aspect of human cognition,under the guidance of which,human communication is defined as an ostensive inference.Relevance Theory,which reveals the understanding process and psychological mechanism of human speech act,can help to reflect personal linguistic competence and provide a multi-perspective way for the understanding of the conversational implicature in daily communication.
