Abstract

Objective To study whether Aβ40 can induce the expression of IL 1α in the rat brain. Methods IL 1α expression was assayed by immunostaining of formalin fixed brain sections. Results There were positive IL 1α staining in the formalin fixed hippocampal sections of the rats injected with Aβ40.In contrast,IL 1α immunoreaction was not detectable in the brains of control rats. Conclusions It indicates that Aβ40 can induce IL 1α expression in the brain of the SD rats It suggests that IL 1α may be mediators in the pathological process of AD.
