Abstract

Fossil plants and sporopollens collected from the lower part of the Benxi Formation in the Jinzhou region of south Liaoning. There are 9 species of 6 genera of fossil plants and 22 species of 15 genera of sporopollens, the age of the flora being affirmed as Namurian Period, which is later than the Period (Visean to Namurian A) in the Taizihe river valley of eastern Liaoning. The discovery is of essential significance in paleobotanic and stratigraphic study, especially in paleogeographic and paleotectonic studies.
