WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF TAIHU LAKE AFTER WANGYU RIVER DRAWING WATER FROM YANGTZE RIVER TO TAIHU LAKE

Abstract

The result of water quality and eutrophication assessment indicated that :(1)drawing water from Yangtze River to Taihu Lake did not improve the water quality overall;(2)water quality of part of the Taihu Lake(Gonghu Lake) improved from class Ⅳ to class Ⅲ.(3)although extensive pollution controlling projects begun from 1996 improved TP、TN、CODMn,they were higher than that of 1981,(4)research suggested that to restore water quality of Taihu Lake,pollution controlling and drawing water must be developed at the same time.
