Clinical application of pleurodesis with video-assited thoracoscopic surgery in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of pleurodesis with video-assisted thoracosopic surgery(VATS) in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion.Methods Twenty-six patients with malignant pleural effusion accepted tale pleurodesis under VATS and the effects were observed.Results All operations were successful.The effective rate was 94.4%,and there has no serious side-effect.Conclusion VATS is a safe and minimal invasive procedure in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion.It is also provided that tale pleurodesis under VATS is a very effective method for pleurodesis.
