Abstract
The experiment was conducted to study the effects of different concentrations of Cd on the modality and physiological characteristics of rape seedlings by hydroponic culture. The results showed that with the increase of Cd~(2+) concentration, the growth of rape seedlings was inhibited, showing the decreased biomass with short seedings, reduced leaf number, leaf area and root length, failed root vigor, and decreased chlorophyll content. The contents of free proline and malondialdehyde increased, and the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD) and catalase(CAT) descended with the incease of Cd~(2+) concentration as well.
