Cognition on genesis evolution of south Gehu lake in Jiangsu

Based on the available information and former research results,the special distribution of soil layers in late Pleistocene Epoch of Quaternary Period in Gehu lake area was analyzed.It is concluded that there existed a NE strike distributary valley of old Yangtze River in west Changzhou in the late period of late Pleistocene Epoch and Gehu lake was the old channel location of linking the valley.The discovery of a Holocene channel of NE strike with 300 meter wide in the lake area through drilling illustrated that the blocking-up of the channel became the main genesis of the formation of the present Gehu lake.
