Abstract
Fifteen microsatellite primers containing A/T repeat motifs were developed from the chloroplast genome sequence of cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.).Of the primers,12 located in non-coding regions and the rest three in coding regions. All the 15 primers had amplified products in 21 cucumber accessions, but only non-coding region located microsatellites displayed polymorphism. Each pair of primers could detect 1~3 alleles(mean=2.0) and their gene diversity value(polymorphic information content,PIC) was between 0 and 0.484 with a mean of 0.202.All the primers could be transferred to melon and pumpkin, and 13 pairs could be transferred to watermelon. This study indicated these primers reported here could be used in the study of chloroplast heritance in cucumber and its related species.
