On the Application of Metaphor in English Teaching

Abstract

This paper briefly introduces the study of metaphor in cognitive linguistics,emphasizes on the great importance of acknowledging students of metaphors in languages and explores how to make use of metaphor in language teaching.By analyzing some examples,the paper proves that if teachers can teach from a metaphorical perspective,they can get twice the efficiency with half the effort.
