Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture at Dong’s extraordinary points as main treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.Methods Fifty patients with trigeminal neuralgia were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups.The treatment group received acupuncture at Dong’s extraordinary points as main treatment and the control group,conventional acupuncture.Results The course of treatment was significantly shorter in the treatment than in the control group.Conclusion Acupuncture at Dong’s extraordinary points as main treatment for trigeminal neuralgia has an obvious advantage over conventional acupuncture.
