Analysis of abnormal thyroid function in 67 elderly inpatients

Abstract

Objective:To explore the thyroid functional status in elderly inpatients with various non-thyroid diseases. Methods:In 67 in patients with non-thyroid diseases,fasting venous blood were drawn to detect T3 T4 FT3 FT4 and TSH on the next morning of admis-sion. Results:Clinical hypothyroidism was screened out in 3 cases (4.47%),subclinical hypothyroidism in six cases (8.95%),TSH 4.0 mU/L in 7 cases (10.44%). There were 40 cases with different degrees of T3/FT3 reduction,among them low-T3 syndrome in 2 cases. Conclusion:In elderly patients,the thyroid dysfunction,especially sub-clinical hypothyroidism has a high incidence but the disease can easily be missed,T3/FT3 reduced degree has certain relationship with disease severity and prognosis.
