Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the levels of serum lipoprotein(a)[Lp(a)] and coronary artery lesion. Methods:Three hundred and sixty-eight patients who underwent selective coroˉnary artery angiography were divided into four groups which included coronary artery disease with diabetes mellitus(group A),coronary artery disease(group B),diabetes mellitus(group C),and the control group(group D).Levels of plasma apoprotein,LP(a)and other lipid components were measured respectively.Reˉsults:The levels of LP(a)in group A and B were significantly higher than that in group C and D,and there was a statistical difference between them(P0.01).Within the lesion groups, the level of LP(a)in group A was significantly higher than that in group B(P0.01).LP(a)level had a positive correlation with the severity of coronary artery lesions in group A and B.The positive correlation was more significant in group A(group A:r=0.62,t=5.42;group B:r=0.45,t=3.25).Conclusion:There might be a close relationship between high LP(a)and severity of coronary artery lesions with diabetes mellitus.
