Abstract

Objective To study the management of skin avulsion injuries. Methods Medical records of 56 patients with skin avulsion injuries were retrospectively reviewed.Split-thickness skin grafting was performed in all patients after early debridement. The combined injuries were treated simultaneously. Results Among the 56 patients, results were excellent in 17(30.3%),good in 37(66.1%) and poor in 2(3.6%).Graft survival was more than 90% in 33 patients and more than 80% in 4 patients. After 6 to 18 months of follow-up,skin grafted survived well with good wound healing. Conclusion Assessment of the injury severity and choice of correct repair are the key to successfully treating skin avulsion injury.
