Abstract

Objective To examine the epidemiological characteristics of influenza outbreak in an elementary school and provide scientific evidence for monitoring and adopting effective control measures.Method Epidemiological survey was conducted and the features of the outbreak of influenza in this elementary school was analyzed.Viral isolation was preformed in MDCK cells and hemagglutination inhibition assay was used for subtype identification.Result Out of the 967 people in the school,63 pupils were infected with influenza virus, and the incidence rate was 6.51%.Influenza virus B was detected in 4 out of 9 pupils' collutories. Conclusion An outbreak of influenza B was found in a primary school. The source of the virus was from the community.Early detection and isolation of infected individuals are the controlling measures to prevent the outbreak of influenza.
