Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and value of Z-plasty in the treatment of bilateral gluteal muscle contracture(GMC).Methods From June 2005 to June 2011,31 patients with bilateral GMC were treated by using Z-plasty.The follow up was 6 to 24 months. Results The operative incisions in 29 cases patients were primary healing,2 cases were delayed healing.According to Huang's criteria,26 cases were outstanding(scores including gait, knee squats, cross legs test, influences on movement and physical labor;outstanding means all 4 items were favorable).1 case patient was passably.None of the patients were poor effects. The curative rate was 96.7%;4 cases were good;1 case was fair. The rate of excellent and good cases was 96.7%.Conclusion Z-plasty is one of the best approaches for the gluteal muscle contracture. The outlines of buttocks recovered satisfactorily, and hip joints are stable.
