The Special Phonetic Notations of LiGui in Dongjin Dynasty

Abstract

In the phonetic notations of LiGui who is a intellectual in Dongjin dynasty,some are really not a simple phonetic notation,but are a kind of annotation for ancient texts.We sort out forty items and sum up five kinds: Holding an old Chinese phonology;Searching for original words;Explaining meaning of words;Changing present character for ancient character;Changing borrowed character for original character.
