Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of matrix metalloproteinases-9(MMP-9) and tumorigenesis, development and metastasis of cervical squamous carcinoma. Methods The expression and distribution of MMP-9 proteins were detected by using immunohistochemical S-P method. The relationship between those indexes and the factors related to clinical pathology of cervical carcinoma were analyzed statistically. Results Immunohistochemical studies demonstrated that MMP-9 were expressed in 69.8% of squamous cell carcinomas(SCC) and 47.6% of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions(HSIL),but were less frequently expressed in Low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions(LSIL)(10%)Results.In squamous cell carcinomas,MMP-9 protein was expressed in 78.30% of patients that positively correlated with lymphatic metastasis significantly(P0.05).And the expressions of MMP-9 were not significantly related to the grade, stage status. Conclusion MMP-9 are related well with initial invasion and metatasis of cervical squamous carcinoma. Conclusion The positive expressions of MMP-9 can be used to estimate the metastatic potentiality and help for the adjuvant treatment.
