XiFeng ZhiYang Tang in Treating 50 Senile Patients with Cutaneous Pruritus

Abstract
Objective: To discuss therapeutic effects of modified XiFeng ZhiYang Tang in treating senile patients with cutaneous pruritus. Methods: One hundred patients were randomized into the observation group and the control group, 50 cases each group. The control group were given with levocetirizine, 5mg, once per day, orally; the observation group took XiFeng ZhiYang Tang on the foundation of the treatment administered to the control group,water decocted, one dose each day. Seven days were one course of the treatment. Curative effects and the changes of symptom scales including the degrees of itching, the frequency, duration and others were observed before and after treating. Results: Clinical cure rate of the observation group was 50.00%, higher than 32.00% of the control group with significant difference(P0.05). Total effective rate of the treatment group was 94.00%, superior to 80.00% of the control group with notable difference(P0.05). Symptom scales including the degrees of itching, frequency,itching areas were improved obviously after treating(P 0.05), the difference demonstrated statistical meaning between both groups after treating(P 0.05). Conclusion: Modified XiFeng ZhiYang Tang could obtain better effects in treating senile patients with cutaneous pruritus, and it could improve clinical symptom.
