Abstract

A series of low molecular weight polyacrylic acid sodium solutions was synthesized by using inorganic phosphate as chain transfer agent on the basis of acrylic acid, sodium hydroxide and so on.The molecular weights of these synthesized polymers were determined by testing their intrinsic viscosity, and impacts of the molecular weight on the dispersion of clay suspension were also discussed. The optimum amounts of above-mentioned dispersants applied in the clay suspensions were investigated; meanwhile, the change of the suspensions properties when adding the optimum amount of dispersants was studied. In addition, the comparison in dispersing effect between above-mentioned solutions and dispersants sold in market was carried out.
