Clinical Observation on the Treatment of Hip Synovitis with Chinese Herbal Fumigating and Washing Combing External Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Objective:To observe the clinical curative effect of Chinese herbal fumigating and washing combing external application of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the treatment of hip synovitis.Methods:48 cases of hip synovitis were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,24 cases in each.The control group was treated by bed rest,magnetic heat therapy and taking orally celecoxib capsule and Xiaoer Huoxue Zhitong Granule(小儿活血止痛颗粒),while the treatment group was treated with Chinese herbal fumigating and washing combing external application of TCM based on the treatment of the control group.The two groups were treated for2 courses(7 days for 1 course) and followed up for 6 months,observing their clinical curative effect and VAS scores.Results:In the treatment group,18 cases were cured,4 cases were markedly effective,2 cases were improved,and no cases were ineffective,the total effective rate being 91.67%;while in the control group,14 cases were cured,3 cases were markedly effective,5 cases were improved,and 1 case was ineffective,the total effective rate being 70.83%.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P 0.05).After treatment,the VAS scores of the two groups were improved(P 0.05),and the treatment group was better than the control group(P 0.05).After treatment and during 6-month follow up,there were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups,and 4 cases in the control group recurred.No recurrence was found in the treatment group.Conclusion:Treating hip synovitis with Chinese herbal fumigating and washing combing external application of TCM is safe and reliable,with short course of treatment,low cost,and satisfactory curative effect.
