Abstract
To obtain the formula of propulsion behavior for the propeller theoretically designed to be installed on a bulk carrier and establish the ship-engine-propeller matching model,a Japanese AU series propeller with 5 blades was chosen as study object, for it was geometrically similar to the target propeller. The regression analysis method was applied to get the propulsion behavior of the AU propeller, and then the result was corrected to get the propulsion behavior of the target propeller. The theoretically designed propeller behavior was examined according to the sea trial report of the carrier. Results show that the method is feasible and the propulsion behavior conforms to the actual situation.
