Comparison of therapeutic effect of standard and mass dose corticortropin chronic ITP patients

Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of standard and mass dose corticortropin on patients with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Methods 71 patients with chronic ITP were randomly divided into two groups.Group A were given mass dose methylpprednisolon with the dose of 500～1 000mg/d,ivdrip;Group B were given with standard dose prednison with dose of 1mg/kg/d,po; The counts of platelet on the 3rd,5th and 7th day in the two groups were determined and compared, and the rates of side effects were observed. Results The counts of platelet increased on th 3rd day of treatment were significantly different (P 0.05);but there no significant differences were observed on the 5th and 7th day of treatment (P 0.05). Conclusion Initial treatment of chronic ITP patients complicated with reduction of platelet with mass dose of methylpprednisolon can not enhance the therapeutic effect.
