Abstract
A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of application of Se on some physiological characteristics in leaves of rice seedlings under Pb stress. The results showed that under different concentrations of Se, the root activity and chlorophyll content of rice seedling increased first and then decreased, the activity of peroxidase (POD) increased first, then decreased and increased again; the activity of catalase (CAT) and content of malondialdehyde (MDA) decreased first and then increased. Under combined treatment of Pb and Se, the activity of root increased first, then decreased and in- creased again, the activity of CAT decreased first and then increased, the content of chlorophyll and MDA increased fist then decreased, and the activity of POD activity decreased, thenincreased and decreased again. All these meant that adding Se could promote the growth of rice seedlings, and remove the harmful effects of Pb.
