Abstract

Ion nitriding of A4 dual-phase stainless steel was investigated. The results show that the nitriding temperature and the ratio of nitrogen to hydrogen will have influence on the nitrided case depth without appreciably affecting the hardness. The surface hardness of nitrided case will be as high as 1200~1300 HV0.3,and the nitrided depth will be 0.1 mm for A4 dual-phase stainless steel while being ion nitriding at 580 ℃ and at a ratio of 1 part of nitrogen to 9 part of hydrogen.
