Abstract

Objectives To investigate the changes and significances of the levels of adhesion molecules in peripheral blood monocytes(PBMs) and oxidized low density lipoprotein(ox-LDL) in patients with coronary heart diseases(CHD).Methods The expressions of lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1(LFA-1,or CD11a/CD18) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1 or CD54) were measured by direct immunofluorescence technique with flow cytometry.The level of ox-LDL was detected by ELISA.Results Expressions of LFA-1 and ICAM-1 and level of ox-LDL in peripheral monocytes were significantly higher in CHD group than those in control subjects(P 0.05).The level of ox-LDL was the highest in patients with acute coronary syndrome(P 0.05).Correlations between the expressions of LFA-1 and ICAM-1 in monocytes and the level of ox-LDL were significant(P 0.05).Conclusions The expressions of LFA-1 and ICAM-1 and the level of ox-LDL were increased in peripheral monocytes,which were significantly correlated with the severity of CHD,and may be used for forecasting the severity of coronary artery lesion.
