Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the sub-Tenon's anesthesia combined with topical anesthesia in the trabeculectomy. Methods One hundred and seventeen eyes of ninety-six cases of glaucoma patients received the operation of trabeculectomy under the sub-Tenon's anesthesia combined with topical anesthesia. Both the efficacy of the anesthesia and intraoperative or postoperative complications were evaluated. Results Amony the 117 eyes under this anesthesia outcome reached level Ⅰ in 84 eyes(71.80%),level Ⅱ in 28 eyes(23.90%),level Ⅲ in 5 eyes (4.30%).There were no anesthesia complications in all cases. Conclusions The sub-Tenon's anesthesia combined with topical anesthesia is safe and effective for the trabeculectomy of glaucoma and is appropriate for more applications.
