Emphasis Changing from Teaching to Learning

What is “Teaching and Learning?” It used to be known as “the teachers’teaching—students’ learning.” While mordern teaching theories regard it as “teachers—teaching students learning.” It is true that students’ learning needs teachers’ guidance, but what is needed most is the efforts and abilities of their own. Only through students’ active “learning” can teachers’ “teaching” work, without the initiative, the teaching aim will be an empty talk. The knowledge learnt on campus is too limited, while students can learn much more through self-learning after graduation. Therefore, it is most important to master the ability of learning. Teachers teach students learning (the ability of learning), and students form the habit of self-learning. Thus, the teaching aim can be realized, so can the teaching value. This article discusses a successful teaching pattern in three aspects: the reason for teachers to teach how to learn (the change of viewpoint); the way of teaching learning (the reformation of teaching methods)and the symbol of the accomplishment of teaching orbital transfer (the realization of teaching effects), which is most instructive and valuable.
