Abstract
Objective To study the effect of traditional Chinese medicine-Ganfukang on the expression of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in rat with experimental liver fibrosis,and explore its therapy mechanism.Methods The hepatic fibrosis in rat were induced by CCl4,and then treated with Ganfukang for 13 weeks.The levels of serum ALT,AST,albumin,total protein were measured.The pathological changes of hepatic tissues were observed under light microscopy by HE staining.TIMP-1 of hepatic tissues were measured by immuneohistochemistry staining.Results Compared with the model group,histological and serum index were improved in the middle dose group.The expression of TIMP-1 in the middle dose group significant decreased compared with those in the model group (P0.01).Conclusions Ganfukang had therapeutic effect on hepatic fibrosis.Its mechanism of action may be related to decrease the expression of TIMP-1 of hepatic tissue.
