Abstract
The ecological environment is fragile in western China. The pipeline construction of Sichuan-to-East Gas Transmission in the section between Zhongxian County of Chongqing and Yichang may bring about adverse effects on the fragile ecological environment. In order to lessen the harmful effects of project on the ecological environment,a variety of soil and water conservation measures are taken in the light of local natural environment during project construction. In accordance with pipeline arrangement conditions such as parallel to contour line, perpendicular to or oblique with contour line, along steep slope, crossing terraced fields and rivers, corresponding soil and water conservation measures are advanced.
